Artist Marie Heath is influenced by every day life. Utilizing all of her senses Marie is able to combine various techniques to create rich textured abstracts and mixed media art as well as expressive watercolors and acrylics. Marie Heath is a painter and mixed media artist. Her work is included in a number of public and private collections. Marie recently was awarded the Arts Council of Surrey’s Art 2008, first place award in 3-2D mixed media, as well as receiving the people’s choice award at the Surrey White Rock Art Society’s show at Semiahmoo House. |

Artist Statement
Rock, paper, scissors….each time inspiration comes differently. I collect bits and pieces of everyday life. I observe, I record and store. Perhaps a color combination, a line from a song or poem, an intriguing or beautiful feather, a crumpled piece of paper or an ancient worn stone. I am compelled to paint a story around and about this thing, this idea. Sometimes I will struggle, sometimes time flies unheeded but often I reach that sought after “zen place”. Effort resolves into a kind of release or tranquility and expression is the happy result.
